The new issue of Miller-McCune hits newsstands this week, and I have a review in there (link) of Timothy Kelly’s Healing the Broken Mind: Transforming America’s Failed Mental Health System.

The book is a great introduction to an issue that does not get enough attention, and it’s surprisingly well-written, given Kelly’s wonky background as a psychology professor and ex-chair of Virginia’s mental health department. Many of his proposals are merely common sense, but more than a few are pretty innovative. And his success in Virginia lends some credence to his analysis of the national situation.

As you say, America’s failed mental health system is an issue that does not get nearly enough attention. Thanks for this review!
