Ryan Blitstein is Chief Strategy Officer of The SGE Fund, a philanthropic organization based in Chicago.
He serves on the board of The Press Institute, a nonprofit that uses journalism to foster community development, personal empowerment, and global awareness, and is a member of the Chicago Committee of Human Rights Watch, one the world’s leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights.
He holds degrees from Stanford University and The Journalism School at Columbia University, and has lectured at Stanford and San Jose State University.
Before entering the social sector, Ryan spent a decade as an award-winning investigative reporter, educator, and media consultant based in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. He was a contributing editor at Miller-McCune and staff reporter at the San Jose Mercury News, and his writing appeared in The New York Times, TIME, and BusinessWeek, among other publications. This site currently serves as an archive of his work as a journalist.
